JOB PURPOSE

Vacancy Location:Capetown

A skilled HR generalist will be responsible for the recruitment, support and development of employees by means of administrative tasks and functional tasks in order to contribute to people management and to provide excellent assistance, service and support to employees and managers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in HR / HR
  • Relevant computer software (Advance Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and/or role
  • Strong in Learning and Development, Reporting, Data analytics, BBBEE systems
  • Solid experience in Sage 300 People
  • Strong experience with trade unions

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proven experience as a HR Generalist
  • Ability to multitask
  • Knowledge and understanding of labour legislation
  • Strong IR Skills and experience (from warning drafting to disciplinary hearings)
  • Proficient in MS Office and at least intermediate level in excel
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (able to communicate with all levels from blue collar to white collar)
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Patience and EQ

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Relations:

  • Guiding and assisting managers on enforcing the disciplinary code
  • Coordinate all disciplinary hearings
  • Support managers with investigations and case preparations
  • Formulate charges and submit them for review and approval by HR Manager/IR Specialist
  • Timeously and accurately prepare matter bundles for all parties
  • Provide sound employee relations Advisory services
  • Consolidate and submit the IR Report monthly

Reporting:

  • Timeously collate and submit all monthly and monthly HR reports e.g. Overtime Report, Absenteeism Report, Employment Equity Report, Headcount Report etc. (for designated departments)
  • Analyze quarterly reports and provide continuous improvement solutions (for designated departments)
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager in the recommending and implementation of business continuous improvement solutions, based on reports and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager in exploring reports and data management methods and/or solutions

Talent Development

  • Consolidate departmental skills audit and matrix on annual basis
  • Consolidate and review departmental succession plan on annual basis
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development specialist in providing talent development advisory services
  • Implementation of departmental training plans

Payroll (Remuneration, Benefits, and Terminations)

  • Ensure compliance with the remuneration policy.
  • Support the payroll department with enforcing Bargaining Council rules.
  • Ensure that all employees are timeously loaded on payroll.
  • Ensure that all bargaining unit employees are paid accordingly.
  • Provide employee advisory services on queries relating to benefits
  • Conducting Exit interviews
  • Ensure that the proper termination process is followed for all resignations.
  • Ensure that unsuccessful applicants are regretted timeously.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Ensure best practice internal and external recruitment processes
  • Achieve recruitment costs savings goals
  • End-to-end Recruitment Coordination
  • Conduct all applicable background checks (qualifications, driver’s license, criminal & reference checks)
  • Draw up of Employment contracts and offers
